intravenous and subcutaneous, have been given. Patients who came for treatment regularly (injections 1-3 grains, in 2-5c.c. of a 3% solution) also taking from six to 18 grains daily by mouth, improve considerably with certain except- ions. No women admitted here from Hongkong has been able to tolerate the treatment; the reaction after a slight injection has been so severe that they are unwilling to contime treatment. Male patients seem to improve, but very few women - only the female children.
During 1921 seven young male adults, aged from 18-30 years, took their discharge. This number represents 20% of those under reguler treatment. Whether the improvement will be permanent we cannot say.
One outpatient (male), a specimen ɗ who se blood was tested last November by Dr. Heanley of Hongkong, and found negative, has lost all signs of the complaint. Others still in hospital have kept well for over three years. One of these, "the leper schoolmaster", was apparent- ly in the last stages when I saw him in 1915. Both legs
had been amputated, he had many sores, nearly all his fingere
had gone and his eyesight was going. When I returned in 1919 he had improved much. Today he enjoys good health; no
outbreak for over three years, he has been fitted with two
secondhand artificial limbs, so is able to walk well.
Excepting for the facial paralysis and deformed fingers, HE
IS WELL.

Recently we have given injections of "Sod:
intre- Chaulmoograte" prepared by W. Martindale of London
muscular as the dose,lt to 3 grains, is given with a
small hypodermic syringe. This injection is more popular than the larger one of Sodium Hydnocarpate, and we have more
applications for treatment then we can attend to at present as we have only a limited number of hypodermic sterules.
